Blair lays down the law: Play fair or fuck off

The Prime Minister addressing the nation earlier today    Evil. No doubt about it

The Prime Minister today sent out a stark warning to terrorists and their sympathisers: "conform" to the normal standards of Britishness or "don't come here".

In his Downing Street address he spelt out the problems facing modern Britain, and laid bare his anger at those he feels are responsible - vermin like Abu Hamza and all those who defend his ilk.

It is not just foreign terrorists we have to fear, he added, but those born in our country who seek to destroy us and our very way of life.

Suspicious    Dangerous

People like Anjem Choudary - Muslim extremist committed to violence - and Aishah Azmi, quite rightly sacked for refusing to remove her veil in front of children.

Some may find my comments offensive, and that is their right in a democracy - something we won't have if Hamza and his allies are successful.

As for their "human rights" and "civil liberties", to hell with it. The rights and liberties of those of us who abide by the rule of law and do not seek to blow ourselves up and impose Sharia on civilisation come first.

"Mr Saddam sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability ... I love you!"

Just one more thing, it's not only extreme Islamists who pose a threat. In addition to the gutter racists of the BNP the far-Left - Respect, Socialist Workers Party, CND - imperil us all with their refusal to condemn terrorism, choosing instead to blame the Prime Minister and President Bush for all the world's ills.

If only Galloway were on the scaffold alongside his hero Saddam, that world would be a safer place ...

Agree with you totally! But how can someone 'f*ck off' if they are born here? I think it is more important to empower the majority of Muslim's to isolate those very small number of extremists from their communities. Just because someone is Irish, didn't make them a member of the IRA or UDA in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Equally (although the British Media don't represent this) we all understand that the vast majority of Muslims do not want to blow up their fellow human beings! How would you deal with those who DO want to institute Shariah Law against the will of the vast majority, but were born here so have no where to f*ck off to?

Ben, you're absolutely right.

Just like the extremists in the BNP, there's no place to send these British-born Muslim extremists so I guess we're stuck with the bastards!

You're also correct in your analysis of what the wider Muslim community feels - they have nothing but contempt for terrorism and those on the Left who refuse to condemn it.

The more their voice is heard, the better, the better for us all if the voice of the moderate Muslim majority can drown out the likes of Anjem Choudary and Abu Hamza.

As for how to deal with those who want Sharia Law, they can stand for election - within their own communities and for Coucils, Parliament, etc - and I am certain they will be defeated. Were they then to take it further through terrorism, they would be arrested.

Blair Touches The Parts Others Can't

Well, I don't think the PM quite put it that way. But he showed that he has a deft touch again in reaching the parts other politicians can't.

A Nationality First - A Religion Second

Also, I believe he said "stay away" - to those problem types who haven't yet arrived, rather than "go away" to those already here. Our laws should be able to deal with the naturalised problems (if we spot them in time)! And for that we need moderate Muslims to remember they are a nationality first - British - and a religion second. Fanaticism needs to be nipped in the bud within our various communities. And the sooner the better.

I have a question about the following statement...

Do you mean civil liberties shouldn't be available to those who believe in Sharia Law? Not that I'm an advocate of Sharia Law, but I'm certainly an advocate of people being equal before a court of law. I concede that I may have taken your comments out of context but how can you preach about the values of democracy then say that someone who advocates something as destructive as Sharia Law doesn't have the same rights as me and you? Isn't that hypocritical? I don't care how evil Abu Hamza is but if he doesn't get a fair trial how on earth can we seek to sell our values to authoritarian states? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't believe in telling anyone 'what' they are. If someone wants to be a Muslim and not British, I couldn't give a toss... As long as they pay their taxes and stay within the law.

Re: equal rights for nutters

I suppose I was a mite hysterical, but that's my gut reaction - and I'd imagine it's one shared by the vast majority of the public - but on second thought I guess you're right. However repellent they are, we must be seen to be according the same standards to these cretins, even if their system wouldn't accord any of us any rights at all. It just sticks in the craw, all this talk of their "rights" etc, that's all.

I'm in complete agreement. However if we play a double standard and strip a lot of these people of having the same rights as us before the law, we play into their hands and only add fuel to the fire. 'British Muslims Don't Have Equal Rights' - A fantastic campaign poster for any radical cleric.
